Mrs. Seligman was born in Shreveport on April 3, 1920. In 1942 she married Jacob S. Seligman of Bastrop, and she spent the rest of her life in Bastrop, a town she grew to love. Mr. Seligman, a well-known merchant and civic booster and a partner in Seligman's, Inc., died in 1994. Mrs. Seligman "Honey Grace" to nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren was a housewife and a dedicated mother; a member and president of Coterie Study Club; a dog lover whose home was never without a barking pet; and a fierce fan of the Bastrop Rams, the New Orleans Saints, and the Atlanta Braves. She was an avid reader and a superb bridge player until macular degeneration put an end to those activities in recent years. Yet she remained optimistic and outgoing, a familiar and popular presence around town until a heart attack felled her last Sunday. She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey S. Seligman of New Orleans, Kay Katz and her husband Stephen J Katz of Bastrop, and Craig Seligman and his partner Silvano Nova of Brooklyn, New York; three grandchildren, Dr. Stacey Sorkin and her husband Dr. Andrew Sorkin of Brookeville, Maryland, Laura Hunt and her husband Glenn Hunt of Monroe, and Keith Katz and his fiancée Jamie Talley of Brooklyn, New York; three great-grandchildren, Sadi Grace Hunt, Caleb Sorkin, and Abigail Sorkin; and her much loved dog, Nellie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop. The family will receive visitors at the home of Mrs. Seligman, 1506 Gladney Drive, on Saturday afternoon between 4 and 6. In lieu of flowers, they request donations to three organizations she cared deeply about: Project Cope/Affiliated Blind of Louisiana, the Morehouse Humane Society or the Morehouse Parish Library.
