Richard Norsworthy officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Mrs. Semmes died on January 24, 2013, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was a charter member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for over 55 years as well as a member of the Alter Society. Mrs. Semmes was in every sense of the word a true domestic engineer. She was an expert seamstress, spotless housekeeper, outstanding cook, and loving and devoted wife and mother. The doors of her home were open to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Allen and Cleardy Mae Hicks, and all of her brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Thomas A. Semmes, Sr., of Eros, LA; four daughters, Leslie Semmes Nappier and husband, James, of Columbia, LA; Bessie Semmes Boothe and husband, Alvin, of West Monroe, LA; Brenda Semmes Kelly of Atlanta, GA; and Eileen Semmes Hardin and husband, Scott, of Austin, TX; one son, Tommy Semmes, Jr. and companion, LaJuana Stephenson, of West Monroe, LA; eleven grandchildren, Mike Nappier and wife, Kim; Sherry Nappier Currington and husband, Tim; Greg Nappier and wife, April; Chris Nappier; Amy Semmes Smith and husband, Mike; Tommy Semmes III and wife, Stormy; Kim Cummings Loe and husband, Tommy; Ariel Kelly; A. J. Kelly; Seth Staples; and Caleb Staples; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband and children would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Legacy Hospice and Ridgecrest Nursing Home for the excellent and compassionate care rendered to their loved one during her illness. The family especially appreciated the many visits and prayers by Legacy's chaplain, Deanna Corbett. Pallbearers will be grandsons Mike Nappier, Greg Nappier, Chris Nappier, Tommy Semmes III, Seth Staples, Caleb Staples, and great grandson Storm Nappier. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law James H. Nappier and Alvin Boothe, Jr. who spent many hours sitting by her side. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 27, with a vigil wake service at 6:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana.
