Helen Shamis

Monroe, LA - Family graveside services for Helen Shamis will be held on 
Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Southern Memorial Park Cemetery in 
Gulfport, MS.

Mrs. Shamis was born on November 17, 1917, in Santa Monica, CA, and died on 
December 31, 2017, in Monroe, LA

Mrs. Shamis was preceded in death by her husband, Kammell J. Shamis; her 
parents, siblings, and her son-in-law, Dr. C. Ray Karam.

She is survived by her daughters, Camille S. Karam and Priscilla S. Mott 
(Marshal Conrad); grandchildren, Maria Karam Kelly (Charles), Charles Karam 
(Jennifer), Jenny Lee Wier (Jeff), and Katherine Karam. She is also survived by 
9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shamis touched many lives during her lifetime. She was a woman of great 
beauty and style, kind and loving, inspiring. She was well-respected in the 
business community for her great success in the world of fashion, but most of 
all for her love for her family.

She is gone, but will never be forgotten.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice Compassus team who were so very 
attentive and helpful; and most especially the caregivers both in Monroe and 
New Orleans who treated her with much love and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
