SARA JANE JACKSON SHELL

Sara Jane Jackson Shell was born September 22, 1928, in Winnfield, Louisiana, 
and died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in the Specialty Hospital of Winnfield.

She was preceded in death by Dennis Shell, her husband of fifty-nine years, and 
her parents, Shirley and Marion Pugh Jackson. She is survived by her daughters, 
Fran Walton and Jan Beville; four grandchildren, Matt Walton; Sara Catherine 
Morgan of El Dorado, Arkansas; Denise Brown of Huntsville, Alabama; and Jared 
Beville of Bossier City; and ten great grandchildren, Thomas Walton; Sydney 
Jeanne and Jackson Crossland; Savanna and Zac Morgan; Virginia, Benjamin, John 
Calvin, and Andrew Brown; and Anna Kate Beville; her sister, Marilyn Jackson 
Shaw of Fulshear, Texas; her brother, John Glyn Jackson; her sister-in-law, 
Dorothy Shell; and six nieces and three nephews.

Mrs. Shell was graduated from Winnfield High School and Northwestern State 
College. She taught business courses at Winnfield High School and Winnfield 
Senior High School for thirty-four years and was a life and health insurance 
agent after her retirement from teaching.

Mrs. Shell was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church where she 
taught the Irene Wood Sunday School Class and was a member of United Methodist 
Women and the Administrative Council. She was also a member of Alpha Beta 
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Winn Parish Retired Teachers, and the 
Lazy Daisy Home Demonstration Club. She served on the board of the Community 
Food Pantry and was the last surviving member of the Winnfield High School 
Reunion Committee.

Services for Mrs. Shell will be at 11:00 Saturday, May 25, in the First United 
Methodist Church of Winnfield with Rev.Timothy E. Lawson of Destrehan and Bryan 
Kelley officiating. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories under the 
direction of Southern Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5 
p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, and from 9:00 until 10:30 Saturday morning in 
the funeral home.

Pall bearers will be Jared Beville, Jason Brewton, Jeff Brown, Carl Bryant, 
Jamie Dantzler, Brad Morgan, Jason Walker, and Matt Walton.

Community Food Pantry, P. O. Box 302, Winnfield, Louisiana 71483.
