Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Winnfield City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home and from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Monday at the church. Miss Shell was born March 3, 1916, in Winnfield, Louisiana, and died Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the Winn Parish Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley Floyd and Della Peters Shell; her twin sister, Doris Shell; her three brothers, Dudley P. Shell, Dennis Shell, and Denton Shell; and two nephews, John Shell and Steve Shell. She is survived by three nieces, Fran Shell Walton, Jan Shell Beville, and Elise Shell; one nephew, Pete Shell of Natchitoches; two great nieces, Sara Catherine Walton Crossland of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Denise Beville Brown of Huntsville, Alabama; and two nephews, Matt Walton of Winnfield and Jared Beville of Bossier City. Miss Shell was graduated from Winnfield High School and earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from Louisiana Normal College and her master's degree from the University of Tennessee. She taught home economics and chemistry at Singer High School in Beauregard Parish and then began a thirty-three-year career in the LSU Agricultural Extension Service. She served as a home demonstration agent in Rapides, Claiborne, and Franklin Parishes, and retired and returned to Winnfield in 1974. Miss Shell was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Irene Wood Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, the Orphanage Circle, and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of Readers Review, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Winn Parish Medical Center Senior Friends, the Extension Homemakers' Club, Winn Parish Genealogical Society, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Pall bearers will be Jared Beville, Kiah Beville, Jeff Brown, Jackson Crossland, Matt Walton, and Sidney Walton.
