SIEVERS Eugene John Sievers, Jr. born November 20, 1929 and went to be with the Lord Ja January 17, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 20, at 10:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe with Rev. Aaron Dickinson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Tyler, Billy Nielsen, Mark Pullen, Casey Tripp, Steve Dark Dark, and Johnny Ray Capps. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of his Swartz First Baptist Church Su Sunday School Class. E.J. was preceded in death by his daughter: Patti Ann Sievers, parents: Eugene John Sievers, Sr. and Lula Lee Campbell Sievers, sisters: Eva Jean Sievers Thompkins and Kelsy Sievers Deason, and brothers: Guy Sievers and Warren Sievers Sievers. E.J. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Brady Sievers, sons: John Robert Sievers, Sr. (Lorette), Joseph Scott Sievers (Lisa), and Jeffry Brady Sievers Sievers. Grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Sievers (Micah Renfrow), John Robert Sievers Sievers, Jr. (Crystal), Kristin Sievers Lensing (Paul), Sarah Sievers Grant (Josh), Madison Sievers, Tina Welch (Greg), and Wendy Kukal (David). 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. E.J. "Bunny" was born in Irving, Texas and moved to Monroe when he was 6 years old where he quickly made his mark on the city of Monroe. He graduated from Ouachita High School in 1949 where he received the Lockhart-Blair Sportsmanship Trophy for 1948 and received a football scholarship to Louisiana State University where he played until Coach Jim Malone, from Northeast Louisiana State College went and convinced him to come home and play football for him. There he continued his football career as well as being an avid college golfer, winning the Intramural Championship in 1952. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. He then served in the United States Army from 1954-1959 wh where he earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant. E.J. was a retired Ouachita Parish Juvenile Probation Officer and later retired as an investigator with Ouachita Parish Indigent Defender Board. E. J. was an active member of the Swartz First Baptist Church. Through the years, E.J.'s love of sports led him to coach not only his sons, but many young men in the community with many championships under his belt. His hobbies included golf, gardening, spending time with his family, and cheering on his alma mater, the now ULM Warhawks. To quote his senior yearbook, "E.J. Sievers: Ouachita footba football's pride and joy! We'll long remember this touchdown boy!" To say that he was he was loved and will be missed is an understatement!
