SIKES Funeral Services for Susie J. Sikes, 82, of West Monroe, LA will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2014 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Kevin Stewart and Rev. James Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Susie was born in Monroe, LA on January 11, 1932 and passed away on May 31, 2014 at her residence. She was an active member of McClendon Baptist Church, the Cultura Book Club and a charter member of the West Monroe/West Ouachita Diplomats. Susie was a retired banker, a member of the Edgewood Ladies Quarterly Luncheon group and a graduate of the Class of 1950 at Ouachita Parish High School, where she was very active in all the class reunions. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex Marvin Sikes; her parents, Jack and Lou Johnson; four brothers, William B. Johnson, Norman L. Johnson, Percy Lee Johnson and S.J. Johnson; and three sisters, Mamie J. Barnes, Leona Johnson and Ruby J. Carpenter. Survivors include her two daughters, Dawn Fowlkes (David) and Nancy Canoy (Andy); one son, Mark Sikes (Stephanie); grandchildren, Jacob Greer (Heather), Dr. Justin Fowlkes (Dr. Natalie), Hunter Fowlkes, Katie Canoy, Anna Katherine Sikes and Alex Neal Sikes; great grandchildren, Lane Greer and Rose Fowlkes; sister, Hattie J. Watson (Billy); special niece/sister, Pat B. Morse; special friend/daughter, Danette Sager; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her son-in-laws, David Fowlkes and Andy Canoy, grandsons, Jacob Greer, Dr. Justin Fowlkes, Hunter Fowlkes and Alex Neal Sikes. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Monday. Memorials may be to the McClendon Baptist Church or the charity of your choice .
