SILKMAN, SR Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe, LA A memorial service for John A. Silkman Sr. will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, Louisiana, at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, January 17th, 2009 under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Silkman, 96, died on January 14th, 2009, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland, at a later date. Mr. Silkman was a life-long Episcopalian, who served in the U.S. Army in India during World War II. He was retired from Swift and Company, Agriculture- Chemical Division. Mr. Silkman was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Magness Silkman. He is survived by a son, Tim Silkman, and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Draughn Silkman, of Petal, MS. He had three grandchildren: Hannah Silkman Bell of Gulfport, MS; Austen Silkman of Dallas, TX; and Evan Silkman of Hyde Park, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Monroe, Louisiana, to Grace Episcopal Rectors Discretionary Fund or to the Ronald McDonald House.
