Clifford Walker, and Mayor Dave Norris officiating. Private family interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:30 PM until service time. Mrs. Simmons was born on July 30, 1917 at Corinth, LA and passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013. She grew up in Ruston and Delhi, graduated from Louisiana Tech and began her teaching career at Bush, LA in 1934. She later taught at Claiborne and Lexington Elementary schools, retiring after thirty- two years as a teacher. Mrs. Simmons was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Monroe. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Davis and by her second husband, Ray Simmons; and her sister, Mozelle Walker. Survivors include her sister, Maurice Keys; her brother, Ralph Brazzel; niece, Judy Colvin; nephews, Ron Walker, Michael Walker, Cliff Walker, and Ken Brazzel; numerous great and great-great nephews and nieces. Honorary pallbearers are the many students that Onis had the opportunity to teach, encourage and influence throughout her calling as a teacher.
