Larry Linson officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Creek Cemetery in Dodson, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Mr. Simmons was born February 10, 1926 in Sikes, LA and passed away on June 12, 2009 in West Monroe, LA. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and he served in the United States Army with the Fighting 69th Infantry. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joy Zell Simmons; parents, Iley and Rosa Bell Simmons; sister, Earline Barlow; and brother, Devane Simmons. Survivors include his sons, Gary W. Simmons and wife Susie and Bruce D. Simmons and wife Donna; brothers, LaVance Simmons, Frank Simmons, and Gene Simmons; sisters, Vanoil Adams, Mary Thames, Annette Rankin, and Linda Bowman; grandchildren, Emily Quigley and husband Michael, Abigail Simmons, Kristi Edwards and husband Jodey, and Kevin Simmons and wife Cristie; and great grandchildren, Devin Walters, Ethan Edwards, Ella Grace Edwards, Casey Simmons, Conner Simmons, and Trey Quigley. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
