HERBERT D. SIMONS

Minden, LA & Sterlington, LA, Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Homer Chapel, Homer, LA
Funeral services will be held for Herbert D. Simons, 84, at the Chapel of Rose-
Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. Interment 
will follow at Tulip Cemetery near Athens. The family will receive friends at 
the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Mr. Simons was born Feb. 12, 1925 in Athens, LA to Clyde and Henrie Simons. He 
entered into rest Thursday, Sept. 24th in Minden following a lengthy illness. 
Mr. Simons was a U.S. Army-Air Corp veteran of WWII, retired Supervisor with 
United Gas and a member of the First Baptist Church in Sterlington.

Mr. Simons was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elizabeth Ann 
Cross and one grandson, Zachary Sim Claybrook.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucy Prince Simons of Minden, LA, 
formerly of Sterlington, LA; two sons, Paul Simons and wife Mari of Shreveport 
and David Simons of Homer; two daughters, Betty Claybrook of Stonewall, LA and 
Carolyn Brown and husband Larry of Doyline, LA; sister, Mamie Ruth Huffman of 
Grapevine, TX; brother, Richard Thomas Simons and wife Bobbie of Houma, LA; 
six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and 
other relatives and friends.

For friends considering memorials honoring Mr. Simons, his family suggests the 
Tulip Cemetery Association, Gideons International or St. Jude.
