Jerry Chapman and Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Masonic rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Simpson died Sept.18, 2009. He was retired from the railroad as a conductor and was known to his railroad buddies as "Suitcase" due to the fact that he was always packed, ready and willing to go to work. He was always busy, never idle. Jimmy was of Baptist faith, a member of the Bernice Masonic Lodge #235 and owner of several businesses in Union Parish. The first thing one noticed about Jimmy was his beautiful blue eyes and he was known for his quick wit and the unique quips that he made up. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, but especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. The highlight of his week was every Tuesday going to the "Cook Shack", cooking and gabbing with his high school buddies. He really looked forward to those days. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie & Florence Simpson and a brother, Clyde Don Simpson. Survivors are his wife, Mary Simpson of Farmerville; one daughter: Leslie Simpson of Farmerville; one son: Dr. Don Simpson & wife, Melissa of Malvern, AR; one brother: Benny Simpson & wife, Joanie of Anahuac, TX; four grandchildren: Zachery Chiles of Kilgore, TX, Jessica LaRoe of Farmerville; Zane Simpson of Malvern, AR and Bethany Simpson also of Malvern, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Pallbearers will be Paul Hayes, Wayne Abercrombie, Kenny Roth, James Dowdle, Bobby Littlefield and Ernie Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Cook, Jessie Giddens and members of the Cook Shack Gang. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Farrar Funeral Home.
