SIMS Services for William Luther Sims, Jr, 91 of Rayville, La will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 8, 2013, at the First Baptist church Rayville with Dr. Eddie Wren and Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home- Rayville. Mr. Sims passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2012 in Monroe, LA. He was born in Vernon, AL on May 20, 1921. Mr. Sims graduated from the Univ. of Mississippi School of Law, was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Rayville Kiwanis Club member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Rayville First Baptist Church, Ordre National De La Legion D' Honner-highest honor France awards to those who served to free their country, Saints Alive seniors group, and Officer Candidate School-Ft. Belvoir, VA. The Sims family moved to Columbus, MS in 1924 where his father was an attorney. He is preceded in death by his parents-William Luther Sims, Sr. and Sarah Lillian Cline Sims; sisters-Ruth Sims Shephard, Reba Sims Dupont; brothers- John F. Shields Sims, Maj. Gen. retired, Richard Hobart Sims; in-laws- Charlotte Glover Eddins and William H. (Bill) Eddins, and William Henry Eddins, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 66 years-Charlotte Ann Eddins Sims; son-William Eddins Sims; daughter-Jean Ann Sims Fields and husband Mark S.; son-Robert Thomas Sims and wife Kathy; granddaughter-Rachel Fields Rivet and husband Joshua McClain Rivet; grandson- Matthew Steven Fields, MD and wife Carol; special friend-Robert K. Bernard; and a host nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Jim Adams, Lonnie Walters, Lewis Hubbard, III, David Fields, Danny H. Sorey, John Thomas Jordan, Lasley Thomason, and John Paul Fields, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be R. Dale Young, George McGuffee, J. F. Allen, Ritchie Garrett, Ralph Abraham, MD., and the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Visitation will be 12:00 until service time at first Baptist Church-Rayville.
