Harry Sims passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2014. Harry J Sims was born in Augsburg, Germany on April 20, 1952 to parents Robert L Sims and Waltraud P Sims. In 1953 the Sims family moved to Louisiana, where he remained until 1994 when he moved to Texas to take care of his beloved Mother. In 2008 he relocated back to Louisiana. As a young man, his love of woodworking led him to a career of cabinet making that spanned over 30 years until health issues caused him to retire. His career began at Key Millwork, where he started as a floor sweeper and worked his way up to shop supervisor. He was with Key Millwork for over 18 years until he opened his own cabinet business which he ran for nearly 7 years. Mr. Sims was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and he not only loved his Lord and Savior, but also all of his Christian brothers and sisters who were members there. Harry also loved to hunt and fish, and was an avid golfer. He was a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan and was proud to have been able to see them finally win in Superbowl 44! Harry was a loving and devoted father, brother, son and friend. He will be fondly remembered for his zest for life, his love of travel, his witty sense of humor, and most of all his never-ending love and loyalty to his friends and family. Harry had a long list of friends, too many to list, that he considered extended family members and he was so thankful to have them in his life. Harry is survived by his daughter Lori A Sims Parrish and husband Jayme and their children Madison Leigh Williams, River Aulds Parrish, and Reagan Diane Parrish; a sister, Susan Cole and her husband Lamar; a brother, Carl Sims and his wife Cynthia; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends for whom he cherished. Harry was preceded in death by his brother, Dale A Sims; father, Robert L Sims, mother, Waltraud Sims; brother, Robert "Bob" Sims; and his beloved son, John Alan Sims. Memorials may be made to the Heart & Lung Association or the charity of your choice .
