MARVIN LEE SMART
Marvin Lee Smart, age 69, passed away Saturday May 16, 2009 at his home in West 
Monroe, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Marvin was a 1957 graduate of 
Neville High School. He attended NLU and served in the US Army for three years. 
After retiring from the oil and gas industry, Marvin lived in Florida for many 
years before returning to Monroe in 2007.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lexie D. Smart. He is survived by his 
mother, Vera B. Smart; daughter, Lori Smart Peters; son, Charles Smart and wife 
Lori; grand children, Mollie Peters, Evan Smart and Emma Smart. At Marvin's 
request, his body has been donated to the LSU School of Medicine for education 
and research. The family would like to thank all of his friends who were there 
for him during his illness. A private memorial service will be held at a later 
date for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
