Rev. Calvin Stapp and Rev. Jim Ragsland will be officiating. Interment will follow at Henry Cemetery in Hico, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral home of Monroe. Mrs. Smith was born on June 18, 1922 in Cedar Bluff, VA and passed away on April 26, 2009 in Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents: William Henry and Etta Lowe; two husbands: Walter J. Russell and M. Earl Smith; sister: Geraldine Mead; brother- in-laws: Marvin Mead, Chap Lockhart, and George Thomas; and nephew: Gerald Mead. Mrs. Smith is survived by three children: son: Geoffrey Russell and wife, Della; daughter: Suzanne Russell Barnett and husband, Raymond and God- Daughter: Andrea Bryant and husband, Creed; grandson: Aaron Russell and wife, Sonya; granddaughter: Bethany Bryant Collins and husband, Jeremy; great grandchildren: Megan and Josh Russell and Colton Collins; sisters: Louise Lowe Dowell and husband, Jack, Jo Edith Lowe Thomas, and Sue Lowe Lockhart; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith, Gennette, Nance, Mama, or G. Moma, by whatever name you called her, if you knew her well at all, you knew her heart's desire was to be God's hand extended in comfort and love to any and everyone. The deepest desire of her heart was that everyone have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that they know him as Savior and friend. She had a beautiful faith in God. And if you only knew her on a less personal level, then you will remember her hats of every color and her smile. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
