Craig West and Rev. R. C. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born July 20, 1928 and passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center. He served as an electrician with Tennessee Gas, was a former member of First Baptist Church Monroe for over 35 years, and a life deacon. Mr. Smith was dedicated to building churches across the United States with Volunteer Christian Builders. He helped build over 100 churches in 15 states. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving in both WWII and Korea. He was a very generous person, ready to serve a neighbor that was in need. Mr. Smith loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Walters Smith; four nephews, R. C. Smith, Robby Smith, Ed Wiggins and Johnny Wiggins; and six special nieces, Eleanor Lincoln of New York, Vera Kelso of Tyler, TX, Marcia Shelton of Texas, Sharon Drumwright, Cindy McPhearson, Melinda Hardey. Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Robby Smith, Jerry Beasley, Lonnie Bayles, Jack Walker, and Dr. Brad Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Sr. Adult Men's Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
