GEORGE EDGAR SMITH


Funeral services for George Edgar Smith, 90, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 
AM Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church 
with Rev. Joe Solomon, Rev. Larry O'Dell, and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. 
Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction 
of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Mr. Smith passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center. 
He was a member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, retired from 
South Central Bell, and the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Smith was a U. S. Army 
veteran serving in WWII.

Survivors include his sons, Roger Smith and wife Beverly, and Mark Smith and 
wife Laura; four grandchildren, Kari Ellis and husband John, Kristi Buerger 
and husband Eric, and Kevin and Kayla Smith; two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alan Smith, Nickey Smith, Kevin Smith, John Ellis, J.R. 
Ellis, and Eric Buerger.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral 
Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lea Joyner Memorial United 
Methodist Church.
