THOMAS W. SMITH





Funeral services for Mr. Thomas W. Smith, 72, will be 10AM Saturday at the 
chapel of Griffin Funeral Home; conducted by Rev. David Moreland.



Mr. Smith was born to the union of William and Jodie Fowler Smith in Holly 
Ridge, LA on March 26, 1941 and passed from this life on Wednesday May 1, 2013 
at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.



He was a resident of West Monroe; retired truck driver; attended the Church of 
Christ Faith; and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed 
gardening, an avid outdoorsman which included duck hunting and fishing; and had 
a passion for old tractors.



He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Benjamin and Thurman Lavelle 
Smith and a sister Merline Smith.



Survivors include his wife of fifty years Joyce W. Smith; children Curtis Smith 
(Mary), Scott Smith (Jeannie) and Bonnie Smith Platt (Daryl); mother-in-law 
Clotille Williams; grandchildren Meagen, Taylor, Ashley, Zac, Courtney, Skylar 
and Kaitlyn; great grandchild Jaycee; also survived by his canine companions 
Caesar and Ava; and a host of nieces and nephews. 



Visitation for friends will be Friday 5pm until 8pm.
