LOIS YOUNG SMITH

Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, November 21, 1997 at Mulhearn Funeral Home on 
Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA with Rev. Walter Mangham officiating. Burial was 
at Downsville Cemetery, Downsville, LA. Mrs. Smith, 81, died Wednesday, 
November 18, 1997. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. 
Smith. She was a former Ouachita Parish school teacher. She was also a member 
of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church of 
Monroe for more than 60 years. She loved the Lord and her family with all of 
her heart. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. 

Survivors include two sons: Mike Smith and wife, Mary of Shreveport, and Harry 
Smith and wife, Jill of Jasper, AL; one daughter; Ja-Nell Tillman and her 
husband, Sandy, of Monroe, five grandchildren: Scott Smith, Brian Smith, Ty 
Tillman, Kristy Tillman, and Allison Smith; one great-granddaughter: Kelsey 
Smith, one brother: John L. Young of Baton Rouge; and one sister: Mildred 
Henderson of Ruston. Pallbearers will be O. M. Noland, Cleve Hammonds, Jr., 
Charles Franklin Hammons, Dr. Larry Neal, Robert Henderson, and Ed Christian. 
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Monroe.
