Erby Burgess officiating. Interment will follow the services at 3:30 P.M. in Colonial Gardens, Marshall, TX, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. He was born on July 27, 1922 in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 in Monroe at Northeast Louisiana War Veteran's Home, Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene Sullivan Smith; a daughter, Andrea Ratcliff; a son, David Smith; two sisters; four brothers; and his parents. Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Smith of Atlanta, GA and Kristie Gammage and her husband, Coy Gammage, M.D. of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Ashley, Tierney, Coy, Hannah Gammage, Angela Williams, Kelly Ratcliff, and Kinsey Smith. Andrew was a faithful servant to his Lord and served as a deacon for many years at Pinecroft Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. He moved to Monroe to be closer to his family and continued his service to the Lord at Parkview Baptist Church. He served as an airplane mechanic during World War II and worked as a welder for many years before retiring.
