A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church. A private inurnment will follow at St. Thomas Episcopal Church Columbarium. The family is honored to have Rev. Joe Soloman, a close family friend, officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Monroe, Louisiana. Pam was born on July 4, 1954, to Marie and Pete Medak. She graduated from Neville High School and Northeast Louisiana University. Later degrees included, a Masters in Education and Educational Specialist. Pam spent her thirty-eight year career at Jack Hayes Elementary School as a first grade teacher, assistant principal, and, in the last ten years, proudly served as Principal, before retiring in 2011. Pam was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend who enjoyed more than anything being involved in her children's lives. She also loved gardening, sitting on the patio with friends and finding treasures at her Saturday garage sales. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Pete Medak, and her sister, Judy Medak Laudenheimer. She is survived by best friend and husband, David Perry Smith, and her two children, Perry Medak Smith and Alice Marie Smith. She is also survived by her mother, Marie Weems Medak; mother-in-law, Alice Perry Smith, and father-in-law, Jack L. Smith. Other family members are Jimmie Laudenheimer and wife Betsy, Lon Smith, Amy Smith Yates and husband, Mark, Fran Smith Ward and Aub Ward, Steven Medak and wife, Susan, and their two children Andy and Kathryn. Nieces and nephews include Jennifer Laudenheimer Lawson, Mark Laudenheimer, Jill Laudenheimer Smith, Grayson Ward, Taylor Ward, Zach Smith, Brooke Lauve and Olivia Lauve. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Ward, Aub Ward, Joey Haddad, Mike Thompson, Lon Smith, Jimmie Laudenheimer and Andy Mouk. The family would like to thank Dr. Sanjay Joseph, his wife Mary, and staff for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Jack Hayes Elementary School, 3631 Old Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA 71203 for a lasting memorial in Pam's honor. Pam has slipped through our fingers and landed in the hands of God. She will forever be missed.
