Carolyn Holmes Smith was born on June 28, 1937 at Winnsboro, Louisiana to the union of her parents Clarence Holmes and Mary Henrietta Robinson Holmes. She passed from this life on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia following an extended illness. Carolyn was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was always giving of herself to others and so many times wore the title of caregiver. Her love to her family and friends was truly unconditional, and she will always be remembered for her lovely smile and sweet demeanor. She was extremely active in her church having taught Sunday school for so many years , participating in Bible school, and always being faithful to her church, and her Lord, and again always looking for a way to help others. Carolyn began her career with Bell South simply as a payment teller and continued and served in so many different positions until her eventual retirement as Marketing Representative. In her latter years she was an inspiration to her family and friends as she faced her battle with Parkinson's Disease so bravely. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her, but she will never, ever be forgotten. Left to cherish her memory: her husband of 56 years, Glenn Crawford Smith of Columbia; two sons: Randy Smith and wife Jan of Grayson, and Kenneth Smith and wife Debbie of Downsville ; her daughters: Cynthia Baird and husband Bruce of Granbury, Texas; and Vicki Riser and husband Neil of Columbia; her brother-in-law: Dale Smith and wife Renee of Farmerville; her beloved grandchildren: Brandon McGraw and wife Cortney, Mandee Brown and husband Charlie, Ben Smith and wife Lynden , Jacob Smith, Michael Smith, Caleb Smith, Morgan Smith, Mary Katherine Smith, Ethen Smith, Randi Smith, Ian Smith, Emilie Riser, Allison Riser, Megan Reitzell and husband Jay; one great-grandchild: Skylar May Brown; two nephews: Todd Smith and Darren Smith and wife Claire.
