She graduated from Waldo High School in Waldo, AR, where her parents pastored. Rachel married her childhood sweetheart, Harold Glen Smith. After World War II, they served as missionary evangelists to the island of Jamaica. After that they served for the next twenty-five years as missionaries to Puerto Rico and to the islands of the Caribbean. Rachel was a credentialed minister of the United Pentecostal Church Int'l. from 1958 until her death. After their missionary service to the islands, they served for 9 years as Regional Field Supervisors to Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Over fifty churches were built and established by Rachel and Glen Smith. Upon their retirement they returned to Eros, LA to pastor for six years. Glen and Rachel retired a final time to their home in West Monroe and became members at The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities, pastored by Rev. Mark Foster. Rachel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Smith after sixty- five years of marriage on April 17, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Hall and sister, Amy Nunley. Rachel is survived by two nieces and six nephews. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 9:00 AM to the time of the service at 11:00 AM at The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities. Rachel has requested in lieu of flowers that monetary gifts be sent to the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities or the Harold Glen Smith Campground in Puerto Rico.
