SMITH Funeral services for Mrs. Doris A. Smith, 97, of Choudrant will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the services will be Rev. Dwight Boozer. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Kilpatricks. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Smith was born August 30, 1917 in Palestine TX, raised in Calhoun, LA and resided in Choudrant until her death on July 28, 2015 after a battle with cancer. She was a lifelong faithful member of Beulah Methodist Church in Calhoun LA. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always there to lend a helping hand, always putting her family first above her own wants and needs. She was a proud, strong, independent lady who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. In her spare time Doris visited relatives in Calhoun, mowed her own yard and whipped up delicious pies often for family to take to "The Young at Heart" in Calhoun. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Smith in 1998. She is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Pitts and husband Jimmy of Choudrant, LA; Patsy Hall and husband Tommy of Monroe, LA; four grandchildren: Kristina Pitts and husband Josh, Joshua Pitts and wife Alicia, Amy McQuillin and husband Jerry and Brandon Simpson; five great grandchildren: Hunter Pitts, Caleb Ramey, Noah Pitts, Madison Morris and Jackson Morris. Pallbearers will be Roy Turner, Gary Smith, Josh Pitts, Brandon Simpson, Josh Morris, and Charles Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry McQuillin, Hunter Pitts, Caleb Ramey, and Noah Pitts. A special thanks to David Holloway and Premier Care Hospice for the love and care provided to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Beulah United Methodist Church.
