THOMAS RAY SMITH

Thomas Ray Smith, lifetime resident of Rayville, LA, passed away April 17, 
2016, after a brief illness.

Mr. Smith was born May 15, 1944. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Ray 
Smith, Jr.; parents, Alvin and Clara B. Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jane Thomason Smith; son, 
Phillip Jared Smith and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Ava Elizabeth, Lauren 
Isabella, and Hudson Thomas Smith; sister, Alice Smith Cumpton, and numerous 
nieces and nephews.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University and Louisiana School 
of Banking at LSU. He was a member of Rayville United Methodist Church and 
several civic organizations. After 30 years of service, Mr. Smith retired from 
Richland State Bank as Executive Vice President and Cashier. He will be 
remembered by the community for his many quiet acts of kindness and generosity.

Pallbearers will be Leo Cumpton, Charles Darnell, Fred Scott Franklin, Jackie 
Fuller, John Patterson, and Malcolm Patterson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Bradford, Pat Patterson, Buddy Rizzo, and Dub 
Weed.

Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2016, from 5P.M. to 7P.M. at Brown-Holley 
Funeral Home, Rayville, LA. Service will be 2P.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 
Rayville United Methodist Church with Reverend John Kavanaugh and Johnny 
Hoychick officiating. Interment will follow in the Rayville Masonic Cemetery, 
Rayville, LA.
