JoAnne was born in Union Parish on April 7, 1937 to her parents, J. D. & Vera Ray Bennett. At the age of 50, JoAnne pursued her love of flowers and became a licensed florist working for Brookshires for several years. Her other passion was music and to hear her play the piano was a treat for all. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 22 years, Max. G. Smith. JoAnne is survived by her daughters, Terri Pearson Gregory and husband Rice, Toni Pearson Grier and husband Bobby, and Tammi Pearson Anderson and husband Johnny, step-sons, Joseph Smith and wife Mandie and Jonathan Smith. Also surviving her are her sister, Bettye Bennett Nolan, nephews, Matt Nolan and Johnny Pearson and nieces Angie Nomey and Vevia Sturm. Surviving grandchildren are Kylie Jones (Ben), Anna Hayes (Wade), William Gregory (Lexi), Kassidy Bennett (James), Kelci Rodgers (Trey), John Richard Anderson (Ree), Jed Anderson, Claiborne Smith, Nolan Smith & Graham Smith and Garrett Young. Mrs. Smith is survived by 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Also surviving are her uncle, James (Sonny) Bennett and wife Barbara. Pallbearers will be grandsons, William Gregory, John Richard Anderson, Jed Anderson, Wade Hayes, Ben Jones, James Bennett and Trey Rodgers. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Arbor Lake Nursing Home, Caregivers Susie Smith, Debra Caples and Lynn Walker. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home in Farmerville. Celebration of Life service will be at Antioch Baptist Church of Farmerville on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Nick Andrews officiating.
