John was born November 30, 1939 in Vivian, Louisiana. Visitation will be Friday, June 16th , 5:00 -7:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 17th at 10:00 A.M., St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Lexington Avenue in Monroe with the Rev. Dr. Tim Neustifter. Arrangements are by Kilpatrick Funeral Home. John W. Smith was born in Vivian, Louisiana to W.F. (Bill) and Ouida Rambin Smith on November 30, 1939. He is a graduate of Springhill High School in 1958 and Louisiana Tech in 1962. He served in the LA National Guard. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Spirit Builders S.S. Class and Church Choir. He was also a member of the American Rose Society and Northeast LA Rose Society in which he was a consulting rosarian. An avid gardener, he shared his vegetables, sugar cane, zinnias and roses with neighbors and friends. In Monroe, he worked as a representative for Arrow Automotive Industries, Morrilton, AK. As a dedicated representative calling on Motor Supply warehouses and their customers throughout Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. For many years he owned and operated Seasons Lawn and Garden until his health failed him. John is preceded in death by his parents, W.F. (Bill) and Ouida Rambin Smith and his in-laws Herbert and Era Kennedy Green; his brothers W.F. (Billy) Smith Jr., James E. Smith and his sister-in-law Donna Green Johnson. He is survived by his wife Diane Green Smith and his son Gavin Smith. His sister-in-laws Shirley McMichael Smith and June McCullin Smith. His brother- in-law David Johnson; his nieces Kathy Smith Kottenbrook (Don),Rose Smith Taliaferro (Scott), Dee Dee Johnson Malachowski and Meredith Johnson LeBlanc; his nephews Robert Smith (Suzanne), Daniel Smith and Kurt Johnson (Amy); his great nieces Annabeth Smith, Jinny Taliaferro Blalock (Casey), Ashlyn Malachowski, Annika and Audrey Johnson and great nephews Brandon Kottenbrook, Payne and Hudson Smith, Tyler, Blake and Kyle LeBlanc. Honorary Pallbearers James Woolridge, Cleve Martin, Carrol Cochran, Joey Bales, Ray Mohler and James Earl Wiley. Pallbearers are Robert Smith, Scott Taliaferro, Daniel Smith, Casey Blalock, Brandon Kottenbrook, Kurt Johnson, Jim Malachowski, Jimmy and Stan Woolridge.
