Funeral service for Mr. Maurice "Buddy" Smith, 78, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 10, 2010 at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Henderson and Elder John M. Guice officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born on October 18, 1931 and died at his residence on June 8, 2010 after an extended illness. He was a retired Independent Distributor with Bordens Milk Company, a member of First Baptist Church and served with the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents Morris Lowery and Margaret Frisby Smith; wife Joy B. Smith and a brother James Edward Smith. Survivors include his children Lisa Henderson and husband Richard, Guy Smith and wife Sonya, Scott Smith and wife Andrea all of Winnsboro, grand-children Ashley Luckett Conyers, Abbey Luckett, Madalyn, Shelby and Jagger Smith; brother Billy R. Smith and wife Jimmie of Winnsboro; sister Bobby Smith Martin of West Monroe; brothers Mike Lee and wife Derrian, Ron Lee and wife Jeanette both of California; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bankston, Tommy Bankston, Bunny McMurray, Sydney Smith, Stacy Thomas, Scott Tripp, Ronnie Smith and Tommy Womble.
