Snead, 93, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Snead passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center. As a WWII veteran he served in the 31st Infantry Division, known as the Dixie Division, from 1941 to 1945. He was a longtime employee of Bell Telephone Company and an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America Service Organization. Mr. Snead was also an avid long time Neville fan and recipient of the first Neville Tiger FAN-tastic award presented by Coach Charlie Brown. Recently he received accolades from the current Neville head coach, Coach McCarty. He was devoted to Parkview Baptist Church and his family. Mr. Snead was preceded in death by his wife Nila Faye Bass Snead, his father Emmett Snead, and mother, Etna Jones Snead. Survivors include his daughters, Carol Snead Kennedy and husband Tom, Cindy Snead Roland and husband Steve; son, Rick Snead; grandchildren, Bryna Kennedy Macias and husband Anthony, Sara Kennedy Merkle and husband Ryan, Clayton Roland, Courtney Faye Roland, Amanda Breard, Molly Katherine Snead, Madelyn Brooke Snead; great-grandchildren, Shelby Faye Macias, Henry Macias, Clayton Roland, Jr.; brothers, Bill Snead and wife Lois, Bob Snead and wife Shirley; sister, Annette Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wade Dickerson, Mickey Traweek, Ryan Merkle, Jim Holmes, Alen Roberts, and Ernie Newman. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
