He was born on July 14, 1927 in Hermitage, LA to wonderful parents, Nicholas and Lelie LeJeune Soulier. He was a proud veteran who served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Montauk. Louis attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA; graduated in 1961 from Northeast Louisiana State College (today, the University of Louisiana Monroe) Monroe, LA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and in 1967 earned a Master of Education in Mathematics. He was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Louis loved math and the students at Robert E. Lee High School of Monroe, LA where he taught mathematics and drove a school bus for several years. Louis had an ingenious mind and held several patents related to molecular carbon use, development and manufacturing. Early in his career, Louis was employed with James Machine Works of Monroe, LA and later, with Columbian Chemicals Company, for 25 years. He relocated to Greenville, SC and for 12 years was employed with Fluor Daniel Corporation. In 1996, he and his wife Dot moved to San Antonio, TX where he worked many years with JC Industries. Louis formed a special friendship with the owner, Steve Jackson and wife, Mirta and their family. At the age of 87, Louis continued working and thoroughly took pleasure in solving complex design issues. Always seeking opportunities to serve others, "in retirement", he worked four days a week, volunteered two days weekly and attended Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio each Sunday. Papa was not one to sit idle; always involved in serving in every volunteer capacity available in the Episcopal Church from building wheelchair ramps to annual church fair booths, to serving the homeless and the hungry. His family at Christ Episcopal Church was very dear to him. Papa volunteered every week for almost 20 years at the church's food pantry. Papa's greatest joy was making other people happy and selflessly shared his many gifts of generosity, kindness and musical talents with so many. He entertained family, friends and numerous others with beautiful music as he played his harmonica. For many years, Louis read stories and played harmonica for the children residing at San Antonio Respite Care. Of late, he played the harmonica each day during lunch for his wife and other residents at The Crescent long term care facility in Sugar Land, TX. He shared so many attributes, humor and many stories with all those who were fortunate to have known him. He is preceded in death by his brother, Earl Soulier and brother-in-law, Nicki Danna. Papa is survived by his beloved spouse, Dorothy Oliveaux Soulier of Sugar Land, TX; Paris Soulier and wife, Lela of Monroe, LA; Julie Kimball and husband, Jim of Canton, GA; Joe Betar and wife, Charlotte of Sugar Land, TX; grandchildren: Jordan Dupree and husband, Ash; Jason Kimball, Joshua Harris and wife, Nichole; Zachary Betar, Christopher Betar; great-grandchildren, Alaina and Zachary Dupree; sister, Amelia Lois Danna of Baker, LA and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
