SPEARS Percy Jackson Spears, Jr., 93 went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2015. P. J., as he was affectionately known by friends and family, was born on November 5, 1921 in Jackson, Mississippi to Percy Jackson and Emily Spears. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1939 and attended Hinds Junior College, Raymond, MS, until he joined the army on November 16, 1942. They fought in the Battle of the Bulge and later served with the occupying forces in Berlin. After the war he attended Mississippi A&M College (Mississippi State University). He spent most of his life as a cattle farmer and also enjoyed raising horses. He was one of the founding members of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association and actively showed Quarter horses for 35 years. He retired from farming a number of years ago and lived with his beloved sister, Gloria Price and nephew David for several years. He has lived in the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home for the past four years and the family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care and kindness they gave to P.J.
