Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in the New Ramah Cemetery in Webster Parish, LA. Mr. Spivey was born on October 20, 1928, in Haynesville, LA and died on January 1, 2013 in West Monroe, LA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Spivey received the Governor Jimmy Davis Award in Livestock in his high school days, and also was a member of the Jr. Jaycees. He later became an Agriculture Engineer with LP&L. Mr. Spivey was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, and was active in Dixie Youth Baseball for many years. He was a devoted husband to his wife, and loving grandpa to his grandchildren. Mr. Spivey is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Ferrell Spivey and by his sister, Virginia S. Nordyke. Survivors include his wife, Billie Marie Spivey; sons, James Spivey II, Craig Spivey, Bradley Spivey and wife, Melissa, and Stuart Spivey and wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Colin, William, Jessica, Savannah, and Joshua James; sisters, Caroline Moore and Marilyn Stansberry; and his brother, D.D. Spivey; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Spivey's nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until Service Time on Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
