Interment will follow at 11 AM, Friday, June 6, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas. Doris was born on March 15, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan, to John Frederick and Dorothea Schleicher Fischer. She died on Sunday, June 1, 2014. After her marriage to Don Wesley Spyker in 1943, Doris resided in Dallas, Texas. She was employed by the LTV Corporation, Dallas, for 27 years in the Human Resources Department as Personnel Administrator and Assistant Treasurer, LTV ES. She relocated to Plantation, Florida, in 1989, and served on the staff of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Davie, Florida. She relocated to Sarasota, Florida, in 1995, moved to West Monroe in 2008, and relocated in Monroe in 2012. Wherever Doris resided, she was very active in her Lutheran churches, serving on numerous Boards and committees and volunteered at Public Libraries, Habit for Humanity and other community endeavors. Doris recently rejoiced in becoming a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Wesley Spyker; son, James Donald Spyker; and long-time partner, Louis Martin Luplow. Doris is survived by daughter, Nancy Farley, Monroe; daughter, Connie Fazio (Don), Overland Park, Kansas; sisters, Alice Schutt, Folsom, California; Eleanor Finger, Saginaw, Michigan; and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildred residing in Texas, Kansas, Illinois, and Norway. Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 10:00 AM till service time at 11:00 AM at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 2816 Deborah Dr., Monroe.
