J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. She was christened in her home in 1920 by a Methodist Minister and attended the Methodist Church all her life. She was presently a member of First United Methodist, Loop Road, Monroe. Mrs. Statham was born Oct. 7, 1920 in Rayville, LA. She lived all her childhood years in Rayville. Upon high school graduation, she attended BMI Business School in Monroe and later took additional business courses in Washington DC. She married Harry T. Statham, whom she had known since he was 12 and she was 10, in 1942 and moved to Washington DC. She went to work for the government where she worked for all branches of the government. She worked for the Internal Revenue Department, Navy Department and US Attorney's office. She started at the US Court of Appeals Library in New Orleans on March 15, 1965, and retired December 31, 1981, as associate Law Librarian with 36 years of service. Her special interests were her church and activities there, her husband and her home, traveling and shopping. She was a member of NARFE for over 20 years, P.E.O., Entre Nous Book Club, Bayou DeSiard garden club, Republican Women's Club and Mon Amie Newcomer's. Preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Statham; her parents, Mary Emma and Green L. Cumpton; and brother, Fred Cooper. Survivors include nephews, Berna Cooper and Marvin Cooper; nieces, Elizabeth Cooper, Virginia Cooper and Bonnie Williams; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Marvin Cooper, Stephen Banks, Kary Bryce, Jared Bryce, Rodney Banks and Larry Banks. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
