Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation and viewing will be held one hour before the service. James was born August 20, 1921 in West Monroe, LA, and died in the early morning of Christmas Day, December 25, 2015 in Plano, TX. He grew up in Monroe, LA and attended Ouachita Parish High School, University of Louisiana at Monroe, and Louisiana Tech. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, spending most of his time in the Pacific. After the war, he was a civil engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for his entire career. He married Rosie Lee (Rosalie) Sherman on January 31, 1942. During their 64 years of marriage, the railroad moved them to several different cities, including Monroe, St. Louis, and Little Rock. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Plano, TX, to be close to their daughter. James was friendly, talkative, and was certainly loved by everyone at Sunrise Senior Living where he spent the last four years. James was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Lee (Rosalie) Sherman Stewart, son Ronnie Stewart, sister Bea Greenan, brother Harry Stewart, parents James D. Stewart and Essie Stinson Stewart, and granddaughter Kelly Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his daughter, Connie Campbell and husband Dale, sister Dottie Boyte, grandchildren Robin Stewart Attaway, Brian Stewart, Lisa Campbell Reich, Michael Campbell and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Stewart, Trent Stewart, Mary Elizabeth Attaway, Amy Campbell and Thomas Campbell, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
