STEPHEN J. SR. STRUBEN

Funeral Services for Stephen J. Struben, Sr., 69, of West Monroe, will be 2:00 
PM Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West 
Monroe with Rev. David Moreland and Rev. Jeff Luellen officiating. 

Mr. Struben was born September 6, 1942 and passed away December 11, 2011. Mr. 
Struben started working for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff office being sworn in 
by Sheriff Bailey Grant on April 10, 1969, and retired for the first time in 
June 1996. He worked at the U.S. Marshal's office from 1996 until March 2011. 
Then, being sworn in again with OPSO in March 2001. Later, he retired again on 
September 30, 2010 and worked off and on part-time until November 30, 2010. He 
graduated from Police Basic Academy in May 1969 and also the 106th session of 
the FBI National Academy in September 1976. Colonel Struben accumulated 
many "thank you" letters in his personnel file during his long career with the 
Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office. He was commander of most of the divisions 
with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office to include: Investigations, Uniform 
Division, Records, Civil, Court Support and the Reserve Unit. He was also an 
avid outdoors man enjoying fishing, hunting and camping with his beloved 
family. He was loved and adored by everyone.

Preceded in death by his parents Werner and Sally Struben.

Survivors include his wife: Billie Struben; Sons: Stephen Joseph Struben, Jr., 
Eric A Struben and wife Linda, Ches A. Struben and wife Tina, Chris McNeely, 
Brad McNeely and wife Tarona, and Jason McNeely and wife Stacy; Grandshildren: 
Haylie McAllister, Erica Kirby, Gage Struben, Owen Struben, Brooke McNeely, 
Dayne McNeely, Ellen Thomas, Zachary McNeely, Madison McNeely, Landrie 
McNeely,and Zoie Pearson; Great-grandchildren: A.J. McAllister, Elijah Kirby, 
Brylee McNeely, Ava McNeely, and Molly Thomas; Sisters: Elizabeth Smith and 
Martha Traylor and husband Charles.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday December 13, 2011 at 
Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
