Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Doris Cummings Sutton of Sterlington, LA, age 86, born September 14, 1930, went to be with the Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ on November 11, 2016. She is now reunited with her parents, Minnie and Dewey Cummings, who instilled in Doris her love of God, family, and the importance of hard work. Left to cherish her memory are the love of her life, her husband of 66 years, Raymond, and her four sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve and Jana, Charles and Laura, Stanley, and Al Sutton. Doris was a wonderful grandmother to her granddaughters; Ashley, Anna, Stacey, Nicole, and Erin. She was dearly loved by her three grandsons; Jordan, Cross, and River, and her five great grandchildren; Charlie, Gavin, Ashton, Ayden, and Jayce. Doris is also survived by her two sisters and best friends, Frances Fuller and Voe Mann. The trio, known as "the sisters" by close family and friends, could always be seen around town enjoying spending time with each other, shopping, and dining. Also surviving to treasure their aunt's precious memory are her loving nieces and nephews, including special niece, Karen Mayfield. Doris was a homemaker who loved the Lord and her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sterlington. Doris will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to First Baptist Church of Sterlington. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until service time on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her four sons, Steve, Charles, Stanley, and Al, and her two oldest grandsons, Jordan and Cross. Her youngest grandson, River, will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Avalon Place and Louisiana Hospice for the special care, attention, and devotion they gave to Doris over the past several months.
