He was born on July 26, 1924, to Raymond Melvin Swanson and Lena Belle Cuthbertson Swanson in Kane, PA. A man of faith, James was baptized at Swartz Baptist Church in Swartz, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara; brothers, Clinton and Lloyd. James was a proud WWII veteran of the United States Army and a Purple Heart recipient. He was an electrician by trade. James was a member of the VFW as well as of the IBEW local union 446 in Monroe, LA, for over 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Frances Wright Swanson; four children, Margaret Swanson Matthews (Richard Thomas Matthews, Sr.) of West Monroe, LA, James Albert Swanson, Jr. (Patty Swanson) of Katy, TX, Raymond Melvin Swanson, Sr. (Rev. Betty Lee Swanson) of Monroe, LA, Mary Ann Swanson Hawkins (Dr. Mickey Lane Hawkins) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; one sister, Marjory Jeanne Swanson of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother, Donald Keith Swanson of American Fork, UT; nine grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. James enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming. He was blessed to have over 20 years of retirement being active and healthy. He will be remembered for his, compassion, sense of humor and devotion to his wife, family and friends. A private family service and interment was held in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA.
