Denny was born on October 22, 1946 to Homer W. and Jimmie Lee Taylor. Denny graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1963. He was in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. Following service to his country, he went to work for the Monroe Fire Department, where he worked for 23 years. He retired in 1992. It was right after going to work for the fire department that he was infected by the "music virus". He never got over it and managed to spread it all around to everyone he met. Over a period of 31 years, he opened for 31 major acts such as George Strait, Neil McCoy, Billy Joe Royal, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Little Jimmy Reed and John Anderson. He was a larger than life entertainer and loved by everyone. He is preceded in death by his father, Homer W. Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna Rae Taylor; his sons, Duane Taylor, Keith Taylor, and John Briley and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Regan Taylor, Will Taylor, Kory Briley, Lauren Briley and Jada Platt; his mother, Jimmie Lee Taylor; his sisters, Jerry Nealy and husband, Hooper, and Grace Monahan and husband, Charles; two aunts, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and numerous brothers in music. Denny held a very special place in his heart for his in-laws and is survived by his mother-in-law, Evelyn Roberts, whom he affectionately called "Maw" and her longtime friend Stanley Brister; his sister-in-law, Leenie Ralston, whom he affectionately called "Nurse Ratchett" and her husband, Dr. Jacky Ralston; his brother-in-law, John P. Roberts and wife Mary; his sister-in-law, Mick Triplett, whom he nicknamed "Mo-Shell"; his brother-in-law, Randy Roberts and wife, Sheila.
