Darryl Tate officiating. Lola was born November 7, 1946, in Rayville, LA, and passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, in Monroe, La., after a lengthy illness. Lola was a member of Holly Ridge Baptist Church and at an early age accepted Christ and was baptized. She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Massey Templeton, whom she adored all of her life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. Whether it was at the ballpark or the ballet, Mamaw Lola was always there. She had an overwhelming desire to help people and nursing became her true calling. She graduated from Louisiana Tech with her degree in nursing and worked as a RN. Later she returned to ULM and obtained her Masters degree in gerontology. She served the University for 20 years in the Student Health Center and was recently honored for her contributions to the faculty and students. Through her work with the Immunization Program, she literally "touched" thousands of students and always offered words of encouragement when needed. She loved a good bargain, and her marathon shopping trips were legendary. Like any avid hunter, she breathlessly anticipated black Friday. She was loving and generous, with a smile that would light a room. Surely the Lord has added an angel to his off-key choir. Survivors include her mother, Janice Driskill Templeton; children, Donna Hendrix Evans, and husband Paul of Monroe, Dawn Hendrix Mims, and husband Mickey of Rayville, and Dianna Hendrix of Rayville; grandchildren, J. Kraig Hunter, Raeleigh Hunter, Elizabeth Mims, and Rachel Mims; great grandchildren, Kameron E. Hunter and Jena Ruth Plauche`; brother, Larry Templeton and wife Angela and niece Tiffany Templeton; and honorary grandson Tyler Anderson. Special thanks to the caring staff at St. Francis Medical Center and to the caring nurses of the CVRU, ICU, Specialty Hospital, and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Rayville United Methodist Church Youth Center. Visitation is 5:30-6:30 P.M., Monday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
