Visitation will be Monday April 28th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Young's Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at McFarland Gurie Cemetery in Jonesville, La. Sherrie passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2014 surrounded by her family. Sherrie grew up in Jonesville and was active in pageants, winning Miss Jonesville, Miss Louisiana Shrimp Queen, and Miss Northwestern State University. After graduating from college Sherrie worked in Baton Rouge as a legislative aid for the State of Louisiana, she also worked for Former Governor Edwin Edwards and Former Secretary of State Paul Hardy. She served as a delegate at two national Democratic Conventions in Atlanta and New York. During that time she participated in making many movies that were filmed around Baton Rouge during the 1970's. Some of which included Kenny Rogers, and Sherrie was known for being the one who introduced Kurt Russell to her fried eggs and bologna sandwiches. Most of all Sherrie loved her family and grandbaby Foster. Sherrie was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her father Billy Hardie. Sherrie is survived by her husband, former Senator, Steve D. Thompson of Ferriday, daughter Tiffany Danelle Foster and Justin Cain of Ferriday, mother, Nell Wyles Hardie, grandson, Foster Lee Cain, Brothers Bo Hardie of Jonesville and John Hardie of Jonesville, and one sister Pam Hardie McGraw and husband Yates of Ferriday. Pallbearers are Tommy Bankston, Willie Crain, John Guice, Billy Boutwell, Buddy Spillers, and James McGraw. Sherrie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
