(ADDISON WALTER) THOMPSON Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Funeral service for A. W. (Addison Walter) Thompson, age 93, of Ruston will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Brian Mercer. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Thompson was born June 12, 1916 and passed away July 10, 2009 in Ruston, Louisiana Mr. Thompson's parent's were Add Thompson and Virginia Spinks Thompson. Mr. Thompson is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Scriven Williamson Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and served in the United States Army in World War II. He served with the 1 158th Engineer Combat Group and with the 733 Engineering Depot Company where he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant after serving in Blacksburg Virginia, Laon, France and the Philippines. Mr. Thompson was a career banker and began his banking career with Commercial National Bank in Shreveport, Louisiana. His banking career was interrupted by World War II. After World War II, Mr. Thompson worked at First National Bank in Ruston where he served in a number of capacities before becoming Vice President and ultimately President. In 1975 Mr. Thompson became President of Ruston Building and Loan where he served until 1992 when he retired. Mr. Thompson was serving as Director Emeritus at Bank of Ruston at the time of his death. Mr. Thompson was a long time member of the Rotary Club of Ruston and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Ruston. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, and a number of cousins, and is remembered by countless friends and colleagues. The family of Mr. Thompson is especially appreciative of the care provided by Dr. Mark Blackwelder, Kathryn Baker, Brian and Shelley Mercer, and countless others who helped both Mr. and Mrs. Thompson through a number of illnesses. Pallbearers will be Dhu Thompson, Francis Thompson, Mike Thompson, Julian S. (Bud) Thompson, Jr.; Benny Denny, and Hank Frazier. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to service time Monday, July 13, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.
