THOMPSON Theodora "Tommie" R. Thompson, 87, formerly of Monroe, LA, passed away peacefully at home in San Antonio, TX, after a long battle from Alzheimer's. She was born April 1, 1929 in El Paso, TX to Genoveva and Ysabel Reyes. Theodora married Arthur C. Thompson, Sr. and moved to Monroe, LA in 1952. She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1951, retired in 1992 from St Francis Medical Center after 40 years of nursing service. Theodora was devoted to her nursing profession and love of service caring for others. Her strong faith led her to teach 3rd grade CCD at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for 40 years. Theodora is survived by her children: Claudine Blakey, Jackson, MS; Olga Thompson, San Antonio, TX; Arthur (Linda) Thompson, Jr., Huntsville, AL; grandchildren: Valerie and Brett Blakey; Lauren (Scott) Milam, Sarah (Mason Macias) Borque; Cara, Carl, and Caitlin Thompson; great-grandchildren: Austin and Braden Milam, Lucy Blakey; and several nephews, nieces and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Arthur C. Thompson, Sr.; and her seven brothers and two sisters. Special thank you for loving care from caregivers Brenda Estrada, Mirna Rivas; nephew, Robert Reyes; brother-in-law, Edward G Cotter; and caring team from Gentiva Hospice. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA, with Fr. Joseph A. Martina, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Our Lady of Fatima School in Monroe, LA. Pallbearers will be Arthur Thompson, Brett Blakey, Scott Milam, Robert Reyes, Edward Cotter, Jordan Cotter and Edmond Horton. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me....
