ALVIE LEO JR. THORNHILL

Funeral services for Alvie Leo Thornhill, Jr., 64, of Winnsboro, LA will be 2 
PM Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Temple Baptist Church, Winnsboro, LA with 
Rev. Jimmy Haper, Rev. Alan Miller and Rev. Marion Spence officiating, 
interment to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be 
from 6-8 PM Monday at the church all under the direction of Young's Community 
Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro, LA.

Mr. Thornhill was a longtime member and Deacon of Temple Baptist Church 
Winnsboro, LA, a retired educator, and a funeral director. He was a 30 year 
member and Past Master of Winnsboro Masonic Lodge # 246 and a Noble of Barak 
Shrine Monroe. He loved his family and had a heart for the elderly and 
children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie Leo Thornhill, Sr. and Gladys 
Ellerbe Thornhill; and a sister, Glenda Ruth Gould.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine F. Thornhill of Winnsboro, LA; two 
daughters, Sara Thornhill Haring and her husband Tony of Winnsboro, LA and 
Emily Thornhill of West Monroe, LA; sister, Susan Spence and her husband 
Marion of Winnsboro, LA; his two grandchildren, Alexis and Addison Haring of 
Winnsboro, LA; and a special uncle, John Henry Thornhill and his wife Audra of 
Phoenix, AZ.

Pallbearers will be Marlin Valentine, Mitchell Valentine, Howard Way, Don 
Graham, Joey Westerburg and David Shirley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be J. W. Dean, Bobby Robertson, Willie Pittman and 
Troy J. Dennard.

Memorials may be made to Autism Society, 4340 East-West Hwy, Suite 350, 
Bethesda, Maryland 20814 or charity of choice .
