KATHERINE P. THORNTON

Katherine P. Thornton passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014. She was the wife 
of the late James R. "Ronnie" Thornton.

A native of Northern, LA, Mrs. Thornton spent most of her life in St. Bernard 
where she worked in the St. Bernard Parish School system. She touched numerous 
lives for over 30 years throughout her career. She also put in countless hours 
of volunteer work in the school system.

She served as Teacher, Counselor, and Vice Principal at N.P. Trist Middle and 
Principal of Carolyn Park Elementary. She volunteered most recently at Joseph 
Davies Elementary School.

She relocated to her beautiful farm home near McComb, MS after Katrina.

Loving mother of Ann Janette Barrios and her spouse Donald Barrios, April 
Dembrun and James Ray Thornton. Grandmother to Danielle Blanchard, Matthew 
Blanchard, Jared Dembrun, Chase Dembrun, Ayla Thornton, Brian Barrios, Daniel 
and spouse Nikki Barrios, Steven Barrios, and Eric Barrios. Great-grandmother to 
Natalie Barrios.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. 
BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, June 
23rd from 10:30AM - 12:00PM. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, 
June 24th at Salem Church in Eros, LA from 10:00AM - 10:30AM, followed by a 
funeral service beginning at 10:30AM. Katherine will be laid to rest in Salem 
Cemetery.
