Ed Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakley Cemetery at Gilbert. Visitation will be on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the Riser Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Sharon Harris Wyant Thornton lost her battle to Lupus on Sunday July 6, 2014 at her residence in Columbia. She was born on November 27, 1953 at Monroe, LA to the union of her parents, Larry Benjamin "Doyle" Harris and Marie Fern Taylor Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sharon was a lifelong resident of the United States having lived in many states over her sixty years of life. She resided in Columbia for the past six years of her life. Sharon is survived by her five children: Thomas and Donna Wyant, Shellie Wyant, Amanda Finley and Mary Beth Wyant all of Columbia. She had fourteen grandchildren: Dale Cagle, McKenzie and Charity Wyant, Nathan Wyant, Dakota Wyant, Christian McCranie, Gracie Buckles, Erin Finley, Bailey Finley, Brad-lee , Krystal and Chelsie; and her great-grandchildren: La David, Kenneth, and Peyton. She is also survived by her six sisters: Jeanette West of Columbia, Violet Huff of Crowville, Helen Parker of Columbia, Glenda Harris of Columbia, Betty Thompson of Natchez, MS and Patricia Thornton of Vidalia. Pallbearers include: Thomas Wyant, Dakota Wyant, Nathan Wyant, Christian McCranie, Jim Steele, and Jesse Steele. Honorary pallbearers include Mary Beth Wyant and Roger Ward. In lieu of Flowers any planned memorials should be made to the Lupus Research Foundation.
