MARTHA LILLIAN WILLIS TILL

Martha Lillian Willis Till, 77, of Shreveport, Louisiana, died peacefully at 
the Glen Retirement System Monday February 16, 2015.

She was born to the late Prentiss N. Willis and Elna Kavanaugh Willis, June 
18, 1937, in Columbia, Louisiana. Martha graduated from Ruston High School in 
1955 and received her BS in business education in 1958 and her MS in education 
in 1969 from Louisiana Tech University. She married the late Billy Herschel 
Till on March 29, 1959. They lived, worked and reared their family together in 
Linville, LA until Martha relocated to Shreveport, LA in 2004.

Martha was a high school business teacher at Linville High School from 1959 
until she retired in 1990. She was passionate about making a difference in the 
lives of her students, both before and after their graduation, and forged 
friendships with former students continued throughout her life.

Martha was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution D'Arbonne 
Chapter and served as state recording secretary after her retirement. She was 
a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma education society, and Delta Pi Epsilon 
Honorary Business graduate education fraternity Beta Omega Chapter. She was a 
member of the Haynes Avenue Baptist Church, where she continued her love of 
singing by being a member of the choir.

She loved to travel, dance, and was an avid gardener.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents Prentiss N. Willis, Sr. and Elna K. 
Willis; husband Billy H. Till, and sister Elna Jean Pennington.

Martha is survived by one son, Dr. William J. Till & wife Mary Catherine Till 
and one granddaughter Olivia Annalise Till of Shreveport; brother Prentiss N. 
Willis, Jr. of Ruston, LA, and Howard M. Willis & wife Wanda L. Willis of 
Winston-Salem, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of the Wolfe Cottage & 
Village Health at the Glen Retirement System, WK Hospice and Dr. Robert Savory 
for their assistance.

Honorary pallbearers Surville Cooper, Gary Harrell, Jeremy Harrell, Ronnie 
Jones, Jim Pennington, John Pennington, Shubert Willis, and John Ellis.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be made to the Louisiana 
Methodist Children Home in Ruston or to the Alzheimer's Association ( 
www.alz.org ).

Services will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA on Friday, 
February 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM officiated by Dr. Randy Ray, with visitation at 
9:30 AM until services at 11:00 AM and interment at Greenwood Cemetery in 
Ruston, LA.
