Mike was born June 19, 1944 in Winnfield, LA to the union of Emile Joseph "Pete" Tinnerello and Francis Kathleen Dunn Tinnerello. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Tyron Tinnerello and his brother, Thomas Robert Tinnerello. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Shelby Jean Erskins Tinnerello; brother Emile Joseph "Pat" Tinnerello (Linda); sister Teresa Kathryn "Kathy" Tinnerello Turner (Randy); sister-in-law Anita Tinnerello; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mike was a lifelong resident of Winnfield, LA, graduating from Winnfield High School in 1962 where he was an outstanding all-around athlete. Upon graduation from high school Mike signed a football scholarship with the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He transferred to Northeast Louisiana where he was a standout left-handed pitcher and played on two conference championship teams. Following graduation he returned home and taught and coached for 16 years. One of Mike's proudest accomplishments was being elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1984-1988. He remained active in Louisiana politics for the remainder of his life. Mike also worked for many years in the telecommunications business. During his tenure as state representative, his district, which included Jackson, Bienville, and Winn Parishes, received more economic development grants than almost any other district. Mike was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He served his community as a board member of the LA Political Hall of Fame and Museum, Chairman of the Winn Parish Democratic Executive Committee, Board of Elections Supervisors, Board of Winn Parish Community Health Center, and Chairman of the Winn Parish Ducks Unlimited. Mike also served as Director of the Sabine River Authority and the El Camino Real Highway four-laning project. Mike enjoyed life with all his family and friends, especially duck hunting and spending time with his son. Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Danny Keyes, Dr. Calvin Phelps, and Rev. Steven Smithson. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories, Winnfield, LA under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Bice, Gregg Davies, Jimmy Atherton, Delane Adams, Jeremy Moore, and Steven Gardner.
