Rev. Gordon "Skip" Dean and Rev. Greg Clark will be officiating. Interment to follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mrs. Tompkins was born May 1, 1919 in Simsboro, LA. She was a graduate of Simsboro High School, class of 1937. After graduation Marie and family moved to Ruston for her to attend LA Tech. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church up until she married in 1941 and moved to West Monroe where she resided until her death on August 21, 2009. She was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church and lifetime member of Northeast Louisiana Quilters Guild. Mrs. Tompkins retired from Sears Roebuck as a department manager. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Tompkins; her brother, Rev. Ted James Lann; mother, Minnie Lou Lann; and father T.J. Lann of Ruston. Mrs. Tompkins is survived by her three children, Pat Beall and husband Thomas of Cocoa, FL, Carl E. Tompkins and wife Linda Carol of Shreveport, LA and Linda LaFiette and husband Robert of Calhoun, LA; sister, Katie Cagnolatti; sister-in-law, Violet Lann; grandchildren, Sherry LaFiette Betts and husband Jeff, Bryan LaFiette and wife Ressa, Eddie Tompkins and wife Chrystal, Heather Blanton and husband Rob, Ginger Beall Donnelly and husband Robert and Monica Beall Sanchez and husband Ben; great grandchildren, Andrew Betts, Anthony Betts, Peyton LaFiette, Naomi LaFiette, Lauren Tompkins, Matthew Tompkins, Robert Blanton, Raleigh Blanton, Claire Donnelly and Jack Donnelly. Pallbearers will be fellow church members at Highland Baptist Church, Lovie Hendry, James Torrence, Jimmy Craighead, Brandon Rodgers, Tim Langston and Harry King. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Special thanks to her many quilting friends for their love and support.
